FUN MONDAY

So we are at the first anniversery of fun monday and it comes back where it started.
Catching Light wants to see our front door and our first blog post...ok...here goes...
Here is my front door...snow, snow, and more snow...but sometimes we have ice.
And here is my very first blog post ever!
"I thought I would introduce myself. I am Kerith. I am 31...I think. I have 4 kids and a great hubby. I decided to start a blog because I think it is too hard to find kid friendly stuff on the internet or there is SSSOOO much you don't even know where to start. I was looking and searching and up late nites just looking for new stuff for my kids or new sites for them to check out or kid friendly stuff for me. As you know...when you are a mother...your interests seem to meld into your kids and what they can do or see or get at or get into. So bear with me as I post the stuff I find that I think is great for kids and families in general. I will hopefully organize it in a way that you like. I thought it would be great if it was all in one spot...then I got a great idea...why don't I just do that and then other will eventually find me and this family friendly blog...well...thanks for listening and come back ya'all.
kerith"
As an update to this-I am going to be getting my own, official domains--2 of them...one for mom and fun stuff (kerithskorner.com) and one concerning my becoming an aspiring problogger (probloggymomma.com). They are not up yet but I have come along way for not really knowing what to blog about but I just knew I had to be a part of it!

Fun Monday-late due to twittering--i am a twitter addict!

Our lovely host at For The Long Run would like us to tell everyone our favorite site...the website we just can't live with out. The site that has changed our life...
This is a hard one for me...I use sssssssssoooooooooo many sites.
But I think I am going to have to choose B5 Media. It is the network co-founded by Darren Rowse, Jeremy Wright, Shia Coggins. I think there are over 300 blogs that are a part of this network.
I choose B5 Media as my favorite site because the majority of the blog I frequent are a part of this network. Plus, I just couldn't choose. Without many blogs on the B5 network, I would not be able to learn to write, learn to blog, make money blogging, or even have a voice in the blogging world.
Now lets go see who else is loving the internet!

Fun Monday--how I have missed you

Lisa is hosting and here is what she wanted: "Let’s meet your pets. I think most of us have at least one pet and I would like to see your fluffy or scaly pal. If you don’t have a camera you can tell us about him/her/them. If you don’t have a pet tell us about a pet you had or a pet you want. If for some weird reason you hate all animals we want to know why gosh-dang-it."

When I was younger, I had a Blue Persian cat. My mom bought it cause she loved the breed. But when we got our new cat home, she found out it hated people. Our new cat hated everyone but me. So I got to name her Molly. I loved my cat so much. She was so loving and loved to sniff my ears and play with my long hair.

But I left for college and my cat got left behind. I am 31 now and my childhood cat just died about 2 months ago. I don't remember how old I was when we got her, but my dad says she was 18 years old when she died. She always knew when I was on the phone with my parents. She always knew when I was visiting. She would appear out of no where and meow until I picked her up and sniffed the heck out of my ear...and I miss it.
You never really forget your first real pet. The one that is all yours and no one elses. She loved me unconditionally...even after leaving her to start my own life and my own family. It is a shame that I developed an allergy to cats and my hubby is HIGHLY allergic to cats or I would have bought another Blue Persian and named her Molly the 2nd. Maybe that is what I will name our dog when our kids get old enough to have a dog.
(This picture is not of my actual cat but she looked just like this. I had my senior pictures taken with my cat but I can't find any of them. Man, I miss my cat!)

Lisa and all of her chaos is hosting this week---check out all of the other pets...pets are the best!

luv u molly...miss u molly...

oNE fUN mONDAY cOMING uP

Oh...how I do love a great fun monday! They are all great but I just really love anything to do with blogging and Christmas.

So our lovely Lady K wants something related to Christmas...now what was it again:
In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas tree ornament. Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree. I want you to zoom in and show me one or a few(you know I can't choose just one!) of your favorite ornaments. If you don't decorate a tree, show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log. I want to see your favorite decoration for this holiday season.

Oh yea...that was it!

When I was a kid, my parents had the tradition of buying us Hallmark ornaments. I wanted to keep the same sort of tradition, but I wanted to do it craft-style.

For the past several years, I have been trying to do the craftsy ornament making but my kids either were too young or not born yet.

But this year, I am in luck. All 4 of them are around and 2 of them are old enough to

help with the ornament making--kind of.

We made cookie cutter ornaments. I have been saving these cookie cutters for 3 years now...dang it.

The Red Bell is Kincaids (5 years old)
The Blue Angel is Corrines (1 1/2)
The White Dove is Liams ( 8 months)
The Yellow Star is Connors ( 8 months)

These are going to be my favorites for some time...probably until next year.

So go now...and check out everyone's favorite Christmas stuff. I can't wait!

I love my daughter...but she is an early riser...a woke-up-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-bed early riser...love her to death...but she makes it impossible to read just one fun monday post...her screaming drives me up the wall....but i love her...hate screaming...love her...so hopefully her mood improves so i can finally catch up with my fun monday-ers!

Fun Monday

So Robin and her nest are the host this week. She would like our best...our blogging best.

It is kind of hard to choose our blogging best. I have only been blogging for a few months so, thankfully, there are not that many as of yet.

I think my favorite so far is my post about multi-tasking in the bathroom. I wrote it for the SheWhoBlogs blog but it is just so f-ing funny...I think.

Another one of my favorites is making sure your kids are ready for the computer age. If any of you have seen my Korner's blog, you will know I am all for having our kids on the computer about the same time as they are walking.

I think that should be enough...now go and check out all of our other prized bloggers and all their hard work!

Fun Monday

Ok...all this sickness--yes...we got sick...again...now it is the cough and cold...but anyway---and the holidays is really putting a kink in my blogging world...but the show must go on...even if it is late!

So our blue momma in the fishbowl wants to see our unfinished projects. I have some ironic news for everyone. The batteries in my camera were dead so I couldn't take any pictures and my projects were unfinished, so I had to finish them...sorry.

But check out a former Fun Monday post with a laundered unfinished project. But I will just have to tell you all my (former) unfinished projects...the reason I didn't blog yesterday...cause it was driving me CRAZY!

So, I was behind on everything due to sickies and the holidays. My kitchen was a mess. The Friday after turkey day, we all got sick again just in time for the weekend. So needless to say, some of the turkey day dishes were still undone...yuk...i know. So i did those. And there were toys all over the place...picked up. The floor had kid crumbies...you know what I am talking about...vacuumed. My kids room was a disaster area...picked up--by them. Kitchen floor was yucky...now is un-yuckified. Let me see.....what have I forgotten.....oh...the bathroom...my only unfinished project as of yet. Piles of dirty clothes in there, dirty toilet, dirty sink, dirty tub...yea...it is grossing me out. I must go clean it now. But before you go, check out the other fun monday-ers. There are 50 some of us this week so we will all be busy reading and not finishing out projects this week...oh well...at least we will feel better when there are 50 more of us not finishing!!!

Ask Santa to write to a Child today

Fun Monday

So Karisma is hosting this week and this is what she would like:

"I want you to take a trip down memory lane, and keep right on going, right back to your childhood. And I want to hear "THAT STORY". You remember the one? Yes, you do! The one your parents, siblings, extended family or friends, would never let you forget, live down or get over!"

But first...embarrassing picture.

First...me and my little brothers...as dorks.

Then me as a baby dork.

And last, me as a toddler dork...but the funny thing is now that I see this particular picture...my daughter looks just like that but with white blonde hair...wierd.

Now on to my story. I was probably 10 or so. Do keep in mind I was a fat kid so doing tricks on anything was a challenge. But for some reason, on this day, I was feeling light as a feather. I decided to do a trick on some monkey bars we had in our back yard. So I climbed out to the middle of the bars and proceeded to hang upside down. (Now also keep in mind I also had alot of hair...and it was past my butt). I tried for a dismount and my hair got caught in a screw on the monkey bars.

You have never heard screaming like that in your life.

I was hanging from that frickin' screw for what seemed forever (was told later is was about a minute and a half...still a long time). My mom was hysterically looking for scissors, but, in the meantime, my hair was kind enough to violently rip itself out of my scalp.

Now, after my "dismount", I really don't remember a whole lot. But my mom tells me that I had a very bloody and very large bald spot for a long time. No one could touch me or my head for about a day. All they could was give me kid's asprin for the pain and cough syrup to help me sleep. I do believe that was the very last time I EVER got on monkey bars. Those stupid things should come with a warning label:

"Hey you, yea, you fat chick, don't even think of climbing me. I will chew you hair off if you do. You don't believe me...try me...I am Monkey Bars...Hear me Rip Your Hair Out."

Yea...that is exactly what the warning label should say!!!!!

But now you need to go and read everyone elses...there is good long list of embarrassing stories so it should be a fun week!

Fun Monday

Gather around everyone. I am going to tell you a story today. A story of a woman who has lost her mind and needs tons of crap to remember her name and what is going on in her life.

Well, Candid Karina wants to see our security blankets--the grown up versions. Please, let me break it down for you:

  1. My "little black book"--that is my phone...can't leave home without it.
  2. My "little gray book"--my address book...for those numbers that are not in my phone...you never know...you may just need one of them in a shopping time of need.
  3. My ink pen--because you never know when that little piece of inspired thought will come along and damn it all to HE!! if you forgot your pen at home---or you need to write on your hand cause you can't remember anything!!!
  4. My notebook (the striped bigger notebook in the middle)--for all my blogging and freelance writing ideas---my hubby just shakes his head at that.
  5. My Planner (the white and orange notebook on the right)--CAN NOT LEAVE WITHOUT IT--CAN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING WITHOUT IT--WOULD FORGET MY NAME WITHOUT IT--ok...i can't remember anything...especially now that i have 4 kids. My planner is my lifeline!
  6. And last but not least...My Coffee Cup. I am a stay at home mom so I need the biggest cup I can find for coffee and I don't need a lid...WALA...the mother of all coffee cups...and yes...it does hold almost a whole pot of coffee. But believe it or not...i am still dog tired by the middle of the day.

Well, that is my story of a lady who can't function without lots of notebooks and even more caffeine. Now go--look---check everyone else out.

Fun Monday Here I Come!!!

So Janet told me to tell a story of a lovely lady who met a fellow...

Describe your meeting with your spouse/significant other. I especially want to hear "meet cute" stories. And it doesn't have to be your actual current sig/other. Perhaps the "meet cute" story is a former boy/girlfriend... or even a best friend. Illustrate with photos, of course.

So we met at a coffee shop I was working at in North MPLS...it is called Steamworks Coffee and Tea Company. And is case you are wondering, yes, they do have the best coffee I have ever had. My favorite is the Sumatra--buy some and try it if you can...tell 'em Kerith sent ya (it has been so long hopefully they remember me). But anyway...on to my story.

I started my day at 5:30 am so I saw everyone coming and going to work. I saw this tall guy in an army jacket always walk by about 6:10 and everyday I would go to the window to see him go to the bus stop. But then one day, a regular customer told him that the girl at the coffee shop always watched him every morning. And my hubby got the bright idea to come to the coffee shop and make me nervous and what not.

I couldn't help but stare at him when he did. And he pretented not to see but would secretly laugh at me cause I was such a dork. One time I was talking to him (he didn't have the army coat so i didn't know who it was) and when I realized who it was I ran into the back of the coffee shop and didn't come out...yes...for real...i am that much a dork. So we starting to talk and he asked me out...we went to the Mall Of America to watch a movie I picked out (American Psycho--not the best date movie) and we ate pizza at midnight, and the rest is history. There are so many more fun stories about us but that will have to be for a different post!

I am doing this fun monday in my personal blog because I figured that this was somewhat of a personal and family post...and here is what you have all been waiting for....

a picture of us:

isn't he just the cutest swede you have ever seen! it is going on 8 years for us and i love it! his is just so funny and he keeps me on my toes. I couldn't have asked for a better hubby! Now go and check everyone else out!!!
